Who are SENDIASS?
All local authorities, by law, must provide young people with SEN or disabilities to have access to Information, Advice and Support Services (IASS).
SENDIASS must offer impartial, confidential information, advice, and support to parents, carers, children, and young people about special educational needs and disability (SEND).
We are a small team that cover the whole of North Yorkshire. We are trained and have accurate and up to date knowledge of:
- Education, social care, and health law relating to SEND
- National and local policies about SEND
- SEND processes including challenging a decision from the Local Authority
- We support young person to meet your needs
What do we do?
We support young people (between the ages of 16-25) with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), if you would like your parents or carers to be included, they are welcome.
We provide a free, impartial and confidential service through our website and online resources.

SENDIASS North Yorkshire offer information, advice, and support in the following ways:
- We provide information and advice
- We have lots of information on our website independent of North Yorkshire Council
- We have lots of information available online and will send it out, if requested
- We provide one to one and occasionally, when necessary, face to face support to young people who have SEND
The support SENDIASS offer could include meetings with school, the Local Authority and professionals.
